Been a while.

Well with the current server migrations and consolidations going on we haven’t been playing lotro. We’ve even dropped the patron accounts.

Last time I tried to play the lag was ridiculous. It was kind of funny seeing the toon going along like a chess piece being slid across a board.

However the deaths every ten seconds without even seeing what was killing you was a bummer.

LOTRO Down

Well the game continues to be down due to “A third party provider”.

My only question, since this can happen to anyone, is why did they switch back to using this provider? If you remember a few days ago there was an announcement about them returning to the routing they had prior to the previous login problems.

So let us look at this.

1. The have a known bad spot in their routing. They successfully route around and eliminate this problem. Everything works well.

2. Then in a fit of total confusion they return to the routing using the known weak link.

3. Routing once again fails under heavy loads.

4. Turbines response:  It’s not our fault! The bad third party provider failed it’s their fault not ours!!!  (Insert image of Tinker Bell stomping her feet.)

 

Cure

Route around the bad link again and make it permanent.
